SCENEgineering have the following sets available for hire. All sets have an information pack available upon request.
Rent is a rock opera, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Boheme. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS.
Stage right comprises of the boys apartment on 2m high steel decking with a handrail surround under which the onstage band can be located. The apartment is joined to a platform surrounded by a scaffold tower on stage left by a 3.5m bridge that crosses the stage at 2m height. Beneath the bridge is an apartment style sliding door that can be used to change the main stage to the interior of the boy’s apartment. This can be used for the likes of "Light My Candle" and "Today 4 U". The set also comes with a spectacular brickwork and graffiti back cloth.
This is a very versatile set and since its completion has been massively popular in use in, Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle and West Bromwich. For an information pack please email or call us on 0141 416 2666.
A musical about seventeen Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line.
The set is a simple affair of trucked and flown mirrors, all 8ft x 4ft in size. There is a ballet bar available which is free standing. The set is unltimately flexible and simple to assemble/disassemble. There are 6 trucked mirrors and 3 flown mirros available.
Back to the 80's follows teachers within a school as they reminisce about their time at school during the 1980s. The show is bright, bold and colourful and the set reflects this, based on the design and colour of a Rubik's cube. The set is a static set with three levels:- Stage level, 1.8m side towers and a 2m central tower. This gives the set real depth and allows many areas of the set to be used for the different scenes as well as separating the present day action from the action back in the 80's. A car prop is available for the associated musical number which fits beneath the 2m central rostra section and appear through concertina doors at the lowest level. The set is versatile and can be easily used in any way required by the director, really bringing out the colour of the show and performances.
For smaller venues with no flying facilities it is almost impossible to give your show the backdrop it deserves. SCENEgineering has developed a new concept in set design to resolve this. The set consists of 5 prisms, each mounted on a rotating platform. Each prism is 3 sided and 1.2m wide by 2.4m high. When lined up the set has a total depth of 1.2m and is 6m wide. It operates on the same principal as advertising billboards in that on each group of faces is displayed a different scene and when the faces line up, the full picture is revealed. Rotate each prism 120 degrees and you have the next scene, another 120 degrees and you have the final scene. This would also be perfect for a corporate event backdrop or similar as our scenic artists can create any backdrop you require.
