Rent is a rock opera, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Boheme. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS.
Stage Right comprises of the boys apartment on 2m high steel decking;
Stage Left comprises of a platform surrounded by a scaffold tower;
Stage Left and Stage Right connected by a 3.5m bridge that crosses the stage at 2m height;
Beneath the bridge is an apartment style sliding door that can be used to change the main stage to the interior of the boy’s apartment;
